this scene always gives me chills - cassie looks completely disassociated and lost in her delusion esp when she brings up Nate, Maddie's emotionless and almost exhausted expression as she delivers her line and the subtle eye-twitch shows that even tho she's done w it all she is still deeply hurt that Cassie is STILL more concerned about Nate than their friendship. I honestly interpret this scene as a chilling moment bcs Cassie is so deep in the delusion and Maddie is 'comforting' her with the very same knowledge that Cassie is ultimately going to be abused - this was Maddie giving the last ounce of empathy/love to Cassie and their friendship by 'comforting' her in this moment, she is essentially saying "Everything that happened with me is going to happen to you, I hope you're ready/can handle it because this is what you chose"
