Very helpful, thanks! In the future, could you include a bit showing how you strain it in cheesecloth and what the finished product looks like? I'd love some basic dosage info too, and when to take it (daily or for certain conditions at certain times?).

I started some stinging nettle from seed this year. I was such a proud mama when I received a surprise sting. My babies had gotten their hairs! It was slightly irritating but apparently I don't have a massive allergy or the babies don't have much bite. So cute. Awe.

So glad I discovered this video. My daughter is diabetic and I really want to help her. She's not much of an alcohol drinker but I don't think she'll mind a couple of drops with all the benefits of stinging nettle. Thank You Again.

Would love to see a part 2 to this video to see how you finish it. Have been getting into herbal medicine here at home. So grateful for all the great info I am learning online. I am trying to use nettle to treat eczema. But I also have a tumor in my brain and am looking for other things good for treating overall health. Thanks for this video.

Thank you!! I love my stinging nettle. It's a very good source of Potassium chloride and chlorophyll. I'm going to make a
tincture as you describ right now!!

My parents have acres of stinging nettle growing in the forest on their farm that I used to whack down with big sticks as a kid--usually enacting revenge for being stung. To this day it grows back every year, and I'm more respectful to forest life now than I was as a grubby country boy. I'm gaining an interest in putting this normally painful plant to good use and this video plus your other one of how best to harvest it, are both very helpful! I'm left with two questions: where does one get a bulk jar of chemistry-grade alcohol, and what is the appropriate dosage and recommended dose frequency for an adult once you've actually made the tincture? (I'm also in BC in Vancouver)

Just wanting to double check. If I were using a 100 proof vodka so 50/50, would I use a 3:1 ratio, plant to menstruum? So for example, here, Yarrow uses 250 g plant matter and 500 ml vodka. But if I were using a lower concentrate, would I need to use more products? PLEASE HELP WITH MATH! Thank you!

At what stage are your nettles in their growth cycle?

Yarrow, i love your shop, videos and you! but can you make an in depth video on how to make a proper tincture? Like, how do we know what dosage we're getting? where do you get your organic cane alcohol? and can we just make what you referred to as a "layman's" tincture and have success? God Bless Yarrow, thanks for what you do

Maybe also give some thought to a more earthquake resistant storage solution for all those great jars of stuff on your shelf! I would sure hate for all that hard work to be lost. You could build drawers and keep them in drawers or at least cage in your shelves with some welded wire mesh.

@Herbal Jedi
What are the steps you took to become an clinical herbalist, it's my dream, but I'm not entirely sure the steps I need to take to get there, if you could send me some tips/help it would be very much appreciated. ❤️

I gathered my nettle about 2 weeks ago from another state whiie traveling because it hasn't been grown near me. However, I kept it in the refigerator to preserve. It is still green and fresh. Will it still be effective as a tincture? Also, do you have info for processing nettle root? Thank you!

Hey Yarrow, I have been a Herbalist for a while, but I have had trouble making tinctures. I tried 2 tinct. some fresh Lemon Balm leaves in 80-proof vodka and ended up with a sour/ fermented-smelling substance. Someone told me that some herbs can only be tinctured when dried, others when fresh, and others when wilted. In 15 years I have read NOTHING about which herbs much be fresh, wilted, or dried before tincturing. Can you recommend a reference in that regard?

What alcohol do you use at 75 proof versus 50 proof? We are using vodka which is around 40 proof for making a tincture of spring gathered fresh chick weeds. Letting it set up in a dark place for a couple of weeks. Have some nettle growing in our back yard have been adding it to our daily juice keeping it going.
