Do another turn with the working end and it will bite on the tension locking it in, close off with a clove hitch and half hitch.

That's not a "half hitch" it's a "Clove Hitch", and do something with the tail, it's about to pull through.

Why don't you use a longer rope ???

Your anchor knot wasn't secure. You could see it getting looser while you were doing the truckers hitch. Your scaffold let loose and went through someones windshield.
