I spent the night at my paternal grandparents' home where my father lived. He came home late one night and woke me up to tell me I had to leave the house immediately! All the while my grandparents were begging him not to do this...I was approx. 6-7 years of age. Since my Mom didn't drive, my stepdad took her to pick me up at 3:00 a.m. while my sisters and grandmother cried (and perhaps me too [I just don't recall]). My mother said he was lying to get out of paying child support but he died about 5 years ago...a funeral I chose not to attend. Although my stepdad and mom have been divorced for many years and are now 87 years old, live apart but my stepdad (who has been diagnosed with Alzheimers) is and always will be MY DAD. He has always treated me and my little sister (who is his biological daughter) the same and my Mom and I go visit him from time to time and we share stories that I will always treasure.

I think I have worked out what the biggest expenditure is in doing all those DNA tests, the researchers pay, the hours spent going through birth records etc.
The cost of all the boxes of tissues !

I find these programs to be fascinating. I grew up one of seven brothers and sisters. The other six were a close knit bunch and they also had strong attachments to our parents. I have never felt these attachments and so had a DNA test and it shows that I am a full brother but it still I don’t feel any of this. I’m now in my 70’s and I’ve had a good live and still do not feel these attachments.

Her bio dad will have had doubts but she was too young to receive that ''news'' . I'm glad Kerry has found a huge extended overseas family and a nearby sister. She seemed a bit shocked to hear ''African'' whereas some people will have seen that in her right away.

We all know what xxx is for. All the heartache could be avoided if only people took precautions to avoid unwanted pregnancies. I guess half the world's population (or more) were unplanned.
Wonder why Kerry's bio dad said that.
