FOSTER: Behind the Scenes with the Filmmakers—

A film 10 years in the making, Mark and Deborah spent several of those years conducting research building trust and listening to the people that make up the system – well before they ever shot a second of film. It took a village, or in this case the largest foster care system in the United States, to make this film, and their efforts were rewarded with unprecedented access from the Department of Child and Family Services of Los Angeles County to tell some of the most revealing stories of the foster care system.

The film is set to release on HBO May 7th with a social impact campaign set to bring together communities to change perceptions of the foster care system and advance solutions to improve outcomes for children and families across the country.

- Recently, we caught up with Raeanne, whose story is featured in the upcoming HBO documentary FOSTER. Her story is often difficult, but it is one of hope. In the film, Raeanne is trying to remain with her newborn daughter, Kris’Lyn, who is removed from her care after being born with drugs in her system. Custody is granted to Kris’Lyn’s father while Raeanne receives treatment.
