Japanese Self Defence Force Ration 2018

This ration from the Japanese Self Defence Force is something that was new to me, so I decided it might be worth getting one to try out. Being pretty rare and hard to find meant that there was a price to pay, and that price is going to be high if you're bidding against someone else who wants it badly. Opening the pack, I was a bit surprised to find no beverage at all, and only a Lunch and Dinner option, also the fact that the rice needs to be microwaved, suggests that this is not an Operational Ration and something that is eaten back in the barracks. Once it was all warmed up though, I was surprised at how filling it was. The Chicken chunk and rice with sesame paste, was a bit on the boring side, but was ok. The best bit was the sweet herby fish, which had to be the best flavour experience I've had in any MRE from other nations. To sum this up, the price they go for is far too high for what there is, but the flavour was satisfying, and now I've had one, I dont think I'll get another, but if you want to try one for yourself, the ebay trader is called Maleficon.
