In this video, Cliffe Knechtle addresses a Muslim's question about the authorship and reliability of the New Testament. He explains how the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John were written by eyewitnesses or close associates of Jesus’ apostles in the first century. Using the John Rylands manuscript as evidence, Knechtle challenges the misconception that the Gospels were written centuries after Jesus. This engaging discussion explores the historical credibility of the New Testament and the life of Christ.

Jesus doesn't need your Peace Be Upon Him, he is the Prince of Peace. He is the Eternal Son of the Father God.

Peace cannot be upon Jesus. Because Jesus is peace itself.

"We don't know who wrote the Gospels. But we know for a fact that they weren't eyewitnesses and they didn't speak the same language as Jesus." - Muslims and Atheists

Also judging by the young man's response, Cliff was discussing this with a Muslim. Muslims are traditionally very dishonest in how they represent the gospels. Because they use a lot of conjecture and lies. And then they like to use things like " well the gospels were corrupted " with no proof that the gospels were corrupted. It's just a claim because it makes the Jesus they represent in the Quran look foolish.

He doesn’t even realise that Mathew mark Luke and John were anonymous writers and that their writings were not consistent

I love how he calls him JESUS CHRIST and then says peace be apon him.... you just called him "the messiah that is salvation through Yahweh" so there is one thing you said correct. Amen

Here’s a couple problems with Cliffe’s proposition; 1. The biblical gospels were Not assembled into one “work of art” until the beginning of the 4th century A.D. after Emperor Constantine converted to Christianity (on a whim no less, because he swore in the heat of battle over who was going to rule over the Western Roman Empire he saw a cloud in the sky in the shape of a cross). It was Constantine who brought all the christian factions together under one umbrella and it was (for the most part) those christian leaders who decided what gospels were to be included & excluded from their bible !!
2. Cliffe refuses to acknowledge that human imagination & personal motives played a big part in those ancient tales. Take for example his reliance upon “eyewitness testimony”, a staple of the human jurisprudence systems. You can NOW ask any Cop or D.A. what evidence they prefer in adjudicating criminal or civil acts and they will tell you that they prefer DNA evidence before eyewitness testimony because eyewitness testimony has been found to be far more Unreliable than DNA. DNA is independent empirical evidence that stands on its own reputation as being more specific than eyewitnesses.

Conclusion… “ancient” eyewitness testimonials are to be taken with a good dose of salt !! Those apostles & disciples were for the most part (compared to the modern world) uneducated & ignorant about almost anything they were not specifically trained in (as a trade) ! There was No formal-public education in those days. So much of what those followers knew was hearsay, (2nd & 3rd hand -that was their “news networks” back then), most of them were illiterate (couldn’t read or write). Which reminds me, there is No Gospel of Jesus in the bible. If you pay attention virtually everything in the Old & New Testaments were accounts composed by other parties. So… evidently Jesus (as a rabbi) MAY have known how to read, but he didn’t write any of the New Testament himself!!

Because of the inspired witness of the magisterium of the Catholic Church in the Council of Rome in the late 4th century founding our modern biblical canon. Then later, reformists came and removed books of the 4th century canon based on private opinions on dogma and 17th century forms of textual critique.

When it comes to the Qur'an all they need is the words of Muhammad, but the authenticity of the Bible is backed up with evidence and they still reject it saying it's been corrupted, based on the words of their scholars, their religion is all based on hear say...

Why is Cliff referring to the people that the books were named after, instead of addressing the people that actually wrote the books which were later given names.

1-100 is the first century. 110-130 is in the 2nd century.

Matthew and John didn't write either of the Gospels that bear their names. This isn't breaking news. We've known this for centuries.

130 AD is actually second century, almost 100 years after Jesus death.
