What credentials are needed to work for the CIA?

I worked for the Mongolian Intelligence Agency. They stuck me in a hut on the Chinese border. They gave me a free cell phone, and a company vehicle.... which was a mule.

A college degree with a solid GPA (at least 3.0). Think most CIA recruits have degrees in Political Science, Economics, Law, International Relations and the like. Proficiency in a foreign language(s) is highly desired, overseas travel also helps. Be able to pass a lie detector test, have no criminal record (or at least nothing serious, I don't think they care if you've been ticketed). Some get into the CIA right out of school, but experience of some kind can be helpful.

I worked for Dept of State for years. My only lie was that I was NOT in it for life - and I knew that beforehand. I genuinely hated most people I worked with and jumped at the chance for a huge private sector salary. Check. Outta here. Thanks for the (not-so-great) memories.

I had a friend of mine who retired from the NSA told me about having to deliver some equipment to a small group of CIA field agents one time at an overseas locations. He said that the CIA personnel were nothing but a bunch of nerds.🤣

I would imagine in 2021 to work for the CIA you have to fit into an agenda of government hiring practices more then your educational background and your ability.

Seems like most of the recruiting is done through University Campus, this probably gives them neat and clean Cadets without undesirable backgrounds.

Back then it was 2+2 to get in nowadays it takes you 8 years to get your clearance and got forbids if you can’t explain the phone call to your tinder match in Canada-you I are out
