Either way, I've committed. Had set aside enough money to buy a model 3 performance back in January. But when they kept not announcing it, I lost patience on March 22nd & bought Tesla stock with it... Then the released the performance model... Lol.

So I ordered it anyway, and now I'm finding the cash for it. Delivery in June.

Will be my first EV. Looking forward to it.

I'm one of those weirdos who was a huge fan and a stockholder from fairly early on, but never bought one myself. One of the reasons was I had a bad experience in one of the early Model S's.

A friend of mine got him on a list and we were going to drive from his hangar at an airport to a ski resort about an hour away. It happened to be one of the coldest nights of the year and we left the hangar at three in the morning when it was about 20 below outside. The car did fine for the first 45 minutes or so, but then the cold got into the battery and we watched the range plummet and ended up having to limp to the lodge.

The car is great car, he retired it to Palm Beach and it's still there.

But that put me off having an electric car for a good long time. But then I saw how the Norwegian countries were buying a ton of testlets and how Tesla obviously has dressed the issues since that time. As long as you use the car intelligently, there's no problem using it in cold weather.

So I'm ready to take the plunge and buy my first one.

I purchased my new Model 3 2024 a month ago, and honestly, there is nothing to compare it to. I test drove several other EV's including BYD, BMW, AUDI, Volkswagen and Kia and trust me, they are all years behind Tesla. There is currently no comparison with software alone. Most legacy car makers are doing everything they can to destroy Tesla right now, and I imagine that will continue into the future as they have never been threatened like this before, and are now in full panic mode. I have no sympathy for any of them as they have collectively sold us lies and rhetoric for the past 30+ years with incremental upgrades and marketing BS, all the while not doing R&D, which Tesla has achieved in massive leaps and bounds in less than 10 years. Go Elon and Tesla!

another by-product of these changes, the used Tesla market EXPLODED, I wasn't able to justify a 40k purchase on a car however I recently bought a 2022 Red Model 3 Long Range with the acceleration boost and full self driving for 28, 500 dollars, the battery is great, there's a couple scratches on the car but that's it. I just picked it up last week and its been incredible.

You are right about the test drive. I was SO content with waiting for the refresh for the y bc i already had a paid off rav4 hybrid. i just wanted to test drive one just to see if i liked it. Apparently i like it too much. I no longer have my rav4…

The new Washington state $9K EV credit really shouldn't be celebrated. It's eligibility based on max income is so low (less than $100K for a family of four, and leas than $50K for an individual), it makes buying a new electric car an extremely bad financial decision (spending your entire income on a depreciating asset). Lease might make sense on paper, but then again, if you're making so little, you might want to rethink what you're driving

WA is very good at creating policies and incentives that achieve the opposite intended outcomes, but sure sound nice if you don't care about details.

Maybe hold off buying until the Model 2 becomes available? But I agree Model 3 is a great EV, I think it is one of the most efficient EVs, and also one of the lightest for its size. I also like the minimalist interior.
