Physical controls are safer, faster and just easier to use

No, it's because it's INFINITELY CHEAPER for car makers to put controls onto a tablet--which only requires paying a software engineer to design the UI--versus having to physically design, test, construct, store, and replace / fix physical controls.

It's cost savings for the manufacturer (that isn't passed on to consumers) at the expensive of user experience / QOL, and ease of use and operation.

It is inferior design and a worse user experience marketed as "progress" / an upgrade.

In-car tablets are a pox on modern car design.

Yes, I do not like moving everything to tablet. I like my physical buttons.

I’d like a vehicle that is simple and built with short people in mind: the seat belt is adjustable so it won’t choke you in a collision; the head rest adjust down so you head actually touches it and is supported by it; a cup (in the holder) can be reached comfortably with the seat pulled forward; and the arm rests are not so high that a short person has shoulder pain after riding in the vehicle for hours. Is it too much to ask?

I have mixed feelings on subaru I think they still have unaddressed oil consumption issues that don’t hurt somone who’s been around cars but can kill the engine of someone that’s clueless I also think there very underpowered especially lately without jumping to a turbocharged model which costs money and decreases reliability

Have a 24 ascent, 22 wrx, and a 23 forester in the driveway. Would buy more if I had more room. I’ve test driven every reasonable car under 75 grand and I’d take my subies over them 10/10 times. Toyotas are not what they used to be. Honda is great but they just look so hilariously goofy, Mazda is coming around. Everything else out there is pretty much junk. Subaru is the cheapest, great awd as standard on every car they make. Idk the Subaru is just kind of a no brainer to me. I also live in the northeast and it’s all subies up here. My entire street is Subarus besides one weird guy with a bronco 😂

The reason every car manufacturers are trying to put all the fiction in the screen, is because it’s cheaper to do so and more expensive to maintain equal more money for the maintenance department.

They are not acknowledging one thing that teslas are hardest to steal compared to even toyotas

Even high end cars are getting rid of most of the physical buttons. 😢

They are software defined vehicle.
Switches cost money (and reduce profits) and are not programmable after car is manufactured.
Legacy Auto is far behind and do things like you mention because they are building non software defined vehicles.

Because I see people running to buy a Tesla even though they know nothing about them

2025 Subaru Forester looks like garbage, very Kia-ish. Been a longtime Subaru owner....29 to date with 2 in the garage right now....I will not be buying a new Forester.
