When you put equals sign, my mind got confused.

In the baskets question, why both oranges in both baskets are equated?
The question didn't mention that both baskets have same number of oranges

2/15 + 1/10 =
7/30 - Total absent students

Total present students =
1-7/30 =
23/30, is the correct answer.
