Fragments of the Past is a vast world inspired by ancient Mediterranean myth and civilizations. Today, we’ll be taking a deep dive into the history, myths, and culture of this fictional world.
---

Few things inspire one’s imagination more than the fragmentary artifacts of ancient civilizations, ones that once prospered and are now lost to time. Looking at such objects can make you wonder what other great civilizations could have risen and fallen without a trace long ago.

“Fragments of the Past” is a fantasy world which echoes the lost artifacts and fragmented tales of classical history. It’s an imaginary bronze age epic — a vast world inspired by ancient Mediterranean myth and civilizations. It’s a realm of sun and sea, of gods and heroes, of war and fine art. The worldbuilding project is the creation of talented Italian artist and writer Massimiliano Haematinon Nigro.

There’s a lot to cover, but I’ll give you a condensed overview of what’s been revealed so far. Let’s sift through the fragments to see what epic civilizations might emerge…

THIS RULES SO HARD!!!! I've spoken to the creator once, and it's INSANE how detailed and beautiful his art and worldbuilding is!!! He's an absolute inspiration

Fun Fact: Iskuzai was the Assyrian exonym for the Scythians, who were Iranic pastoral nomads from Ukraine to Central Asia, while Hattusa was the capital of the Hittites, another bronze age civilisation in Asia Minor

This channel is reigniting my imagination. As a kid I would look at ancient civilization with as much curiosity as I look now at these imaginary ones.

Fantasy is so cool, especially realistic fantasy.

Edit: and it’s a TTRPG!

Oh I love this so very much. The bronze age collapse, what came after and our own speculation of what may have been in the times before it have made so many mythical tales come into existence and it's such a gem that people don't often take advantage of

I'm of the opinion that speculative archeology, of the kind showcased in this video, is crucial in helping us constantly reexplore the stories we think we know.
The world needs more of this!

Iskuzai seem to be primarily modeled after Mycenaean and Minoan civilization.

I like how even the simplest archetypal description of those civilizations are unique: -Who were renowned feirce warriors and also as lovers of music
It's refreshing, and awsome to see something new :)

I cannot get over how awesome this project is! The concept of alternate ancient civilizations with details of culture and ruins in this was is new to me, plus raising questions about mysterious races and cultures lost in our past. Your channel is epic and hope it grows fast!

As an idea, I think you should cover the speculative evolution project 'Serina, the world of birds', focusing around canaries and other organisms introduced to a terraformed mars-sized moon orbiting a gas giant in a distant solar system...
