Funny story. When I was 6 or so I asked my grandmother what she did for a living. She always seemed to be so happy. She said "Aw darlin, I'm retired". After that, whenever anyone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I said "I wanna be a retired". I've been working since I was 16. I worked a full-time job while putting myself through college. I early retired at the age of 55. That was 7 years ago. LOVE IT! The thing I didn't expect was having so much freedom. Mostly freedom from time. I get up when I'm fully rested, not when the clock tells me to. I eat lunch when I'm hungry, not when the clock tells me too. I work out when I feel like it, not after work when I'm exhausted. Tuesdays are just as much fun as Saturdays. The freedom to do what I want, when I want is amazing. Now I'm very happy being a retired. Just like my grandma.

The thought of retirement makes me a little worried. My apologies to everyone who have retired during this time after putting in all those years of work just to lose everything to a problem you weren't to blame for. it's kinda difficult for people who are retired.

I'm not kidding when I say that the market crash and high inflation have me really stressed out and worried about retirement. I've been in the red for a while now and although people say these crisis has it perks, I'm losing my mind but I get it Investing is a long-term game, so focus on the long run.

I retired at 53, now 67, I found nothing uncomfortable about it. The first week was like a big weight lifted off my shoulders. I am single and been alone most of my life and love it. You don't have to do anything if you don't want to. I am more wealthy now than when I retired, I cashed in my 401k over 6 years and bought a vacation property in Cuenca, Ecuador and just bought a brand new house. I actually lost 40 pounds since I retired because of the stress levels when working. The only different thing I do now is not work. Everything else stayed the same, more or less. Working 9 to 5 was an inconvenience I am happy to be done with.

Worked from my home office for last 12 years prior to retiring early so the transition was nothing.. Had the passive income in place, fully stocked IRA, the RV and gear all in place to do RV trips into Canada, Alaska and dessert SW. Then right when I retired my wife had a stroke and all the plans went out the window. A dream retirement replaced by 3/4 time a caregiver. Watching every month flip over on the calendar can't help but think, worked most of my life for? Moral of the story, even though you are taking care of yourself, if your spouse goes down, so do you...
Thanks for the video.

I’ve only been retired about 15 months. I am still finding my way. I have an entirely new and unfamiliar life now. I’m slowly learning who I want to be and what I want my life to look like. While it isn’t an uncomfortable process, it is quite peculiar. Despite witnessing A LOT of horrible deaths in my life, watching my brother take his last breath was a game changer. It was definitely a STARK reminder that life is a journey and not a destination. We are never done. Until we are. So, I have decided upon living a life that is meaningful to ME. And what I am finding is that no part of what I was living is what I want to - or need to - live in the future. That’s a decent start in my opinion. Thanks for this video. I genuinely appreciate another early retirees perspective.

Beautiful. I Retired at 41 from the US Army going on 11 years now. I approve of this message. I will say the Military lifestyle for 23 years prepared me better than the average Joe. We tend to be more Self-Contained Mobile people and quick to asses and change. You hit many, if not all the important transition issues. I retired before my parents and had to give them some advice on the subject :_). Any hoot, Make a Great Day and be Balanced.

I retired early @ 62. I lost money from SSA as a result. I worked p/t for 2 yrs and than stopped. The reason I retired early was - low salary/overworked, an aging parent, I became sick from exhaustion so I left. Moved into a senior's apartment. I paid off my car note. Now I get to do the things I want, write children books, downsize, getting healthier, go swimming, I go to the movies sometimes vs streaming, travel, relax, sleep. I taking digital art drawing lessons to draw for my children's books. And this year, I maybe going back into the recording studio to records some songs I wrote. The sky is the limit. I -- am -- loving -- it!. I wasn't not afraid of the income loss. One of the best decisions of my life.

I have been retired for 14 months and I enjoy every minute of if. I am in the gym 5 days a week and still have a business in the evening where I work my own schedule and I am a musician at my church.
I see this as beginning a new life style not as retirement. God has been so good.

Hi Nadia! What a great video. I retired 7 years ago and the change has been really hard for me. Like you mentioned I didn’t have a plan. I haven’t taken good care of myself and now I’m overweight. You have opened my eyes to a lot of things. Thank you so much!😊

I enjoyed the video Nadia ❤. Retirement is a significant milestone in a person's life, and a happy retirement life can be achieved by planning and preparing for it to your best capacity and then hope that it pans out well. I hope we all succeed after all the struggles. It’s the least we deserve ain’t it !

I retired from the federal government at age 56 but continued working part-time off and on in private industry until I was 72. If i reached a point where I started getting bored or finances were getting tougher, I'd go back to work in some little job that kept me busy. I tried out a lot of different jobs, believe me there are some terrible jobs out there and it was nice to know I could quit at any time if I hated any of them. Worked out fine for me.

I retired in 2015 at age 38. It’s super hard doing nothing all day but I do it well. Never need to make another penny in my life. I designed this life on purpose. 🥰

I'm almost 51 years old and had planned to retire last summer, but the volatility of the last 12 months, followed by the war, has convinced me that now is not the time. I have a tiny portfolio (about $100k) outside of my retirement fund that is now in drawdown; someone encouraged me to work with a Inveestment Advis0r, so I think I'll have a lot to ask when I meet with one.

This is such an on point video. I retired early this past May and it's been great. I've always enjoyed my own company so I was already used to going to the movies or out to eat alone. Thankfully, I live in a city with a lot to do and the beach is nearby so I'm starting to go there more often as well for breakfast or lunch and then take a walk on the beach. Just last week I had a relative to call me with an "emergency" and wanted me to drive her to run an errand. I said, "sorry, I won't be able to get away." 😆 Maybe I'll find that I'm passionate enough about some cause to start volunteering, but for now I just want to get to know myself through traveling, reading and following every interest I have and then go from there.
