Things like honeycombs, sponges or strawberries don’t trigger mine. It’s things like edited pictures of holes on the most random things imaginable, or fissures in a scrotal tongue. It gives me chills and a bit of goosebumps. ☠️😹

I had a panic attack because of those horrible things, the worst part is that when people know it they intentionally send you pics and so

Googling Tryphobia was honestly one of the most terrifying and uncomfortable moments of my life. Despite feeling extremely uneasy seeing all the pictures I just seem to always bring myself back to looking at them

For me, it's more of a overwhelming disgust. It wouldn't trigger if someone poked holes in a eraser or cut holes out of a paper (both things people tried to show me after I told them I had trypophobia) but if it's something like boiling water on a hot pan, or textured walls. It makes me feel like my stomach dropped and there pins on my hands. Like when a limb falls asleep or something.

For me it’s random. Raised surfaces like strawberry seeds are fine, but lotus seeds are super triggering. Anything edited onto bodies is also triggering. I heard an interesting theory about it, and it’s that the phobia comes from an evolutionary fear of rot, since rot often times equates to death or injury.

My friend has a fear of holes, My other friends thought it was "funny" so they draw holes in there palm and made it look realistic and showed it to my friend, my friend was terrified and they made fun of her. It was terrible 😓

For me this isn't a phobia, it's more extreme dislike. The sight of closely packed holes causes nausea and revulsion but I'm definitely not at the crying/panic attack level. It must really suck for those who have a panic attack at the sight of droplets of condensation!

Trypophobia wouldn't have been a thing if it wasn't for the edited pictures of holes on human bodies.

remember people!!
sometimes people can’t control their fears. saying this and that fear is “stupid” and not “scary” is not going to help anyone.

Guys, I’m seeing a lot of comments of people’s friends thinking it’s “funny” to send their friends, who trusted them with the knowledge that they’ve got trypophobia, pictures that will deliberately trigger them.

These are NOT your friends, guys.

If they do this to your face, what do they do behind your BACK? Your fear and discomfort is a source of amusement for them? They’re constantly invalidating you?

Get out of there.

Get out of that friendship as fast as possible.

It’s HARD, Lord knows I know it’s hard, especially the longer you’ve been friends, but YOU deserve someone who loves and cares for you. And if you don’t have friends or family who do, I WILL!

Message me, if you’re lonely, need help, need to talk, ANYTHING. You deserve love and support because yes, there’s 7 billion people on the planet, but there’s only one you - and only you can do the things you do!

You are smart! You are strong! You are beautiful, and you are brave! Go make better friends!

I’m trypophobic and the thing that makes me feel that way about holes is the thought of them being on my skin. All those hole on skin pranks caused my trypophobia now I can’t even look at bubbles, kitchen utensils and some more stuff normally

Seeing this video I already felt called out since I have Trypophobia
To me it's not the thing that I can't look at holes
It's more the thought of holes that aren't supposed to be there, the most prominent example that makes me freak out at the thought of it, would be wounds that look like holes in flesh
Or like that one frog that has his eggs in the skin on it's back and the babies would pop out like maggots
I can't explain why but it overcomes me with the feeling how I would feel being in such a condition, which often makes me gag, feel ill or freak out

I'm very self conscious about having this phobia but then I make myself aware that other people might be scared of spiders
And I realize that my phobia is just as valid

"Not a REAL phobia", says researchers that don't get sick to their stomach every time they see triggers. 🙈

I have had this since who knows when, and people often find it funny even though it's not. I'm just sad that not many people understand fears like these
