What Causes Trypophobia?

Trypophobia is the fear of objects with small, clustered holes. Many people claim to suffer from the affliction, while it is not recognized by American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. But what is it? Why do clusters of holes cause disgust, revulsion, even terror in some people? According to Dr. Geoff Cole and Professor Arnold Wilkins' findings in Psychological Science, the answer may lie...in evolution! Do you suffer from trypophobia? What do you think the fear stems from? This phobia is real... I saw a photoshopped pic of a lotus seed pod in someone's skin and I literally could not sleep for I'm didn't even want to touch my own skin because it made my skin crawl so much. It's serious and it sucks

I just watched a Trypophobia Test video and I cried. An image of holes in human skin with pods inside really gets me, and I will NEVER forget it.

Whenever I look at holes I feel like thing are crawling all over me

I don't mind things like the lotus seed pod but it makes me really uncomfortable to see holes on skin. It doesn't really scare me but it makes me cringe really badly and imagine that the holes are on my skin.

I certainly have Trypophobia, but I don't think I can look at a Lotus flower and be super uncomfortable. It's more of the case when you see super nasty cases with humans where there is a huge cluster of holes is on the skin.

When I first saw the Lotus plant alone, I was like, "cool." But then I saw on the skin, I was disgusted. The phobia is not present for me. I can look at salt shakers, cheese, bee hives, you name it. But I can't handle it when it's on skin. It's not fear, it's disgust.

I can look at holes and hives and so on. But when there is loads of visible holes in the skin e.g. Lotus flower photoshopped onto skin. My stomach tightens and I get cold sweats. It's horrible.
