We had 13 shots on target, the last time we did that was in the 2003/04 season. In those intervening years we have played plenty of bad teams. It is a big positive and should set us up for the season. More positivity please

I'm more optimistic than most West Ham fans so far, seen a lot of posetives and only negative is that too much pressure is being put on seeing instant coffee, when a good coffee needs time to brew.

Franky you're well off the mark about rodriguez mate. When has he buckled under pressure while on the ball. You've decided he's not "up to pace" and have lumped in his on the ball actions with his off the ball running. Watch the games back, he doesn't give the ball away or become wasteful when pressured in any game he's played for us

Hypothetical scenario: You wake up in the middle of the night tonight to find a wormhole at the end of your bed that can take you to an alternative universe. If you go through it you'll find yourself back at the start of the season with Ruben Amarim as Head Coach however because Sullivan was pissed off at having to buy out the manager's contract, the only signing he funded was Duran. You have 30 seconds to make a decision before the wormhole evaporates forever, do you jump in and start the season with Amarim and Duran but no other signings, or go back to sleep and stick with what we've got?

I dont think anyone is getting carried away with this win but I thought Frankie was unduly critical. Thought for a future podcast. Can you cover the matchday experience from a fans perspective?

I said at the start of the season that I thought we’d have a better second half of the season to the first and to wait for 10 games at least before reaching a judgement on Lopetegui . Must confess I’ve been a bit twitchy at times about that but on the whole I think we’re where I imagined we’d be position-wise in the league. Still hopeful of a strong finish taking us up the league possibly 9th or 10th.

Geo we love what you do but that Frankie guy is too negative. Guido had a decent game against the Tractor boys.
Too much negative energy here today.
Yall can d better

As soon as Franky said I saw no positives from that game which would allow us to get at spurs I stopped the video.
I get being balanced but that was just full on pessimistic. This is a team going through transition and we beat a team that have given good games to strong opps. How can you not be happy about that and take solace from it? I saw good patterns of play, our front 3 back to our best, a flourishing partnership of tobido and kilman....emerson best game so far....soucek turning into a passing master....

Smashing United after the international break ... can't wait

I did say, at the beginning of the season when it was looking a little topsy turvy w/Lop, that it would take a 4-1 victory, and that there wouldn't be any real signs of life until the 7th game. Thus far, not too bad in the Irons' senses. Hoping that somehow we can meet that wall of Spurs with some counterattacking football.

Last season, when we were conceding 4 or 5 or even 6, I looked at Arsenals centre back pairing of Saliba and Gabriel with envy. Our defenders were so far away from that, I couldn't see us competing for years. A season is a long time in football! Now we have Kilman and Todibo, who could go on to be a superb defensive unit.

Can't believe Frankie and I were at the same game. I saw a West Ham midfield with little control of procedings for 20 minutes, with a pressing Ipswich let down by Phillips. Credit where it is due: West Ham's tactics and belief grew, imposing themselves and stifling Ipswich. For me Roddy is one of those players who is often undervalued for his performance. JL and our players have to be given some credit for the outcome. Green shoots.

Aim is top 10 for me, i think its doable but too soon to say as of yet. It is looking like a 12-14th type of season though. Still not sold on the manager especially after all the stuff moyes got hated for it hasn't changed a whole lot regardless of 1 dominant performance.

Comparatively for the most part, we have improved significantly from last season with possession, passing, pass accuracy and shots. Some of the performances have been bad but what do we expect from what is essentially a new side with a new manager. It'll take time to get things right.

I hope Ipswich has put things into context for some. Get behind the manager.

Chances created we are 10th in the league. Above forest and villa. Its coming

Disappointed in the negativity, Todibo & Kilman can be a solid foundation for us, lots of changes and I mean huge changes.
Still gained more points in exactly the same games as last season can't ask for much more considering the changes mentioned above. Come on get behind the team/manager Ipswich have got good results against teams in great form (Brighton & Villa) so maybe we prevented them doing what they've been doing well. I watched the whole game didn't see a bad performance from Ipswich but Todibo marking Delap out of the game possibly prevented them making progress in the final third and that's where you win games, NO?

JL has a vision, we have a vision. Somewhere in the middle I'm sure we will find a brand of football that builds from that solid defensive base and drives out from the 2 centre backs. I want to see penetrative passes through the lines on the break and rampant wingbacks feeding into Bowen and Summerville with Kudus in the centre. I'm sure that's where it'll finally settle. COYI

Being realistic, a new manager coming in has to (1) instill his style into the existing players, who were several seasons ingrained in the Moyes style (2) introduce several players with no Premier league experience and (3) introduce several more Premier league signings. This was always going to take some time. The sensible expectation for this season was: A slow start, bottom half up to Christmas, then results would hopefully improve to a top half finish. With luck, a good post Christmas improvement will be enough to reach 7th-9th, but with the expected slow-start, 9th-11th is more likely, and for me, would be OK. Next season, if the squad stays together (and is improved), we should be looking for a European finish.
