The smart motorways "experiment" has failed and should stop, Liz Truss has told tonight's twelfth and final Conservative leadership hustings.
Ms Truss, who is widely expected to be unveiled as the next Tory leader at Monday lunchtime, was asked about the issue at Wembley Arena in London.
"I absolutely think that we need to review them and stop them if they are not working as soon as possible... and all the evidence I have suggests they're not working," the Foreign Secretary said.
