It's actually possible to fact check if Cotton did serve in both Italy and the Pacific Theater, right? Were there any US Army formations that got moved from Italy to the Pacific, presumably in 1943 or 1944? Maybe one can rule out 1945, since by that point, it seems unlikely that the Japanese still have any Zeros based in their outer perimeter islands, I suppose?
