I'm retired and 30 years ago I worked with a young man who was gay. He did not make an issue of it. I didn't make an issue of it. We respected each other as human beings. That is how you promote unity.

Although I agree that being gay isn’t the totality of your identity, because gay people are not usually conservative due to a lot of conservative policies that have discriminated against them in the past, it is an important distinction to make and Charlie didn’t seem to grasp that. I am guessing Charlie still has views about gay people that are outdated despite being right on the money about everything he usually argues for against the left. Just another example of how not everyone is perfect and extremes on both sides are problematic.
