What is geriatric oncology? - a short introduction to research in older adults with cancer

Did you know that for almost half of patients with cancer, there is no solid evidence base for their treatment? This concerns older adults with cancer, a strongly underrepresented group in clinical studies on which treatments in oncology are currently based. The field of Geriatric Oncology aims to improve these outcomes by performing new studies in older patients with cancer, thereby individualizing treatments.

About me:
I am a registered clinical epidemiologist and working as a fellow in medical oncology in the Netherlands. I have published over 50 manuscripts and have received several large research grants. I am particularly interested in research in geriatric oncology and am a an active member of the International Society for Geriatric Oncology.
