Dr Christopher Steer speaks to ecancer at the International Society of Geriatric Oncology 2018 conference in Amsterdam about the importance of supportive care in geriatric oncology.
Dr Steer stresses the importance of adequately assessing the needs of patients (in particular older adults) in order to improve communication about any age related concerns and thus provide supportive care that better fits their needs.
He also talks about his involvement as chair of the geriatrics study group MASCC (Multinational Association for Supportive Care in Cancer).
Dr Steer concludes that treating the whole patient as well as the cancer itself is vital, and this crucial to be aware of before beginning treatment.
