How To Teach Possessives -- What's your favourite . . . ? Class Game
Показать описание
Make sure students are familiar with the possessive adjectives MY, YOUR, HIS and HER.
Divide the class in half to make two teams.
Send ONE student from each team out of the class (somewhere where they can’t eavesdrop) and close the door.
From 00:13 and listen to the three “What’s your favourite…?” questions. Pause the video once all three questions have been read out.
See how well the student’s teammates know him or her by asking them to guess what their teammate’s favourite colour, sport and season is.
Example:
Supposing there are 10 students on each team in the classroom, allow some of them to guess what their teammate's favourite colour is. Accept suggestions from several different students and let the team vote.
“His/her favourite colour is blue” (5 hands up = 5 votes)
“His/her favourite colour is red” (3 hands up = 3 votes)
“His/her favourite colour is green”(2 hands up = 2 votes)
The greatest number of students on the team (5/10) guessed that his/her favourite colour is blue.
Take a note of this somewhere and then do the same with the other two questions (What’s your favourite sport? What’s your favourite season?).
Now repeat this with the other team. See how well they know their teammate.
Have the students come back into the classroom and ask them to answer the questions honestly and with no influence from their teammates (don’t award points if their teammates try to cheat or call out the answer).
If the student’s answer is the same as the option that his or her teammates chose (i.e. My favourite colour is blue), award 10 points. If the student’s answer is different (i.e. My favourite colour is black), no points are awarded. Award a total of 40 points as a bonus if the teammates manage to guess three out of three correct answers.
