Yesterday we talked about the C2 Hercules from Crusader Industries. Today we delve briefly into it's military counterpart, the M2 Hercules!
This ship is armored, and has an added turret that the C2 doesn't have. It also comes with 12 seats for combat troops. Other than that, it is much like the C2. Come check it out!

I was in the military, the reason we used red lights is because it can't be seen from as far away as normal lights. Therefore it doesn't give your position away and it gives you just enough lighting to see.

C2 would be the largest ship I personally would consider real cash on.

The dimmed lights can be good for preserving the crew's/passenger's night vision, useful for assault landing on the night side of a planet or moon. Bright interior lights would also be visible at a greater distance at night when the doors open, at least in the "real world". No idea if the SC game engine takes that into account or not.

The M2 gets rid of the Rec room for the Aux Crew and armoury. So the M2 doesn't have a kitchen... There are changes in the neck of the M2 that has different items as well. So the C2 is much more comfy for long hauls then the M2...

The M2 is showing 577 SCU in game. So I don’t know where the cargo capacity really is on this ship. I like that the co-pilot seat actually controls both rear turrets simultaneously. On the downside the landing gear seems badly placed with the nose continually dropping on any landing on uneven terrain and the rear ramp lifting high off the deck needing constant repositioning. As to the lack of crew amenities with the amount of personal storage on this ship I can eat MRE and drink water for months without having to replenish the stores.
Overall I’m happy with my choice of the M2 over the C2.

Losing the second large shield gimps this ship to a large degree. The other two have two large shields - I don’t know why they felt they needed to gimp the M2.

I'm confused about where the loss of cargo comes from when comparing the C2 to the M2.
The main cargo/lower deck are exactly the same in dimension.
The major differences besides component size, are an additional crew member (extra bunk and chair in M2) and a troop transport section (M2) versus a rec area (C2).

I have the C2 mostly due to its primary role as a hauler first and as a military transport second. I do wish the C2 had the third seat on the bridge and a couple of fold down seats elsewhere for vehicle crews when hauling them. (I guess they're supposed to just sit in the Rec Room watching vids or playing cards at the table.) The third seat on the bridge with a gunner's option would allow for the dorsal turret to be operated at the same time as the ventral turret. Right now the poor copilot has to switch between the two turrets which is inefficient. Ideally the dorsal turret would be automated since its limited firing arc makes it a bit boring for a crewman. I also wish the C2 had the bunk beds in the crew cabin instead of just two beds. The fact that the C2 has a smaller crew than the MSR bugs me a bit as a hauler like the C2 is begging for a crew engineer or whatever you want to call him/her.

I went with the M2 because of it durability. I am going to use this ship to drop the tonk and the Ballista... maybe the Tumbril motorcicle

The M2 seems to be for short duration military manoeuvres. The C2 as civilian, seems to have more long duration abilities, with lot's of kitchen and storage for small crew. I think you can think of them as delivery trucks. Civilian trucks for long distance, have bed areas in the back, more crew comforts.

M2 more versatility, and more pew pew!

Both the C2 and M2 can carry two tonks, the A2 is the only one that can only lift one.

M2 for me! I like guns, dont haul cargo. Got it for vehicle/troop carrying.

I feel like CIG needs to add an American football to the game. Cuz one of the hallmarks of the c-5 galaxy is being able to throw a football in the cargo area. Would be cool if we could do that here.

Well I have the C2 but I’m not a cargo runner. I’m very interested in dropping troops and gear into hot zones.

Hasn't the m2 got awesome shields too, which helps with piracy?
