Absolutely shameful commitment to backwards compatibility. No PS1 or PS2 even? Compatibility with "almost all" the top 100 games? Same architecture but cant run all previous PS4 games even though AMD were tasked to design a chip that would focus on backwards compatibility.

I've heard all sorts of excuses for this lack of compatibility and for PS3 it 100% makes sense but really with the PS2/PS4 compatibility it doesn't.
If Xbox can do it with not just Xbox One but 360 and OG Xbox games then surely Sony can at least make all PS4 games run on the PS5.

So the logo Sony made for the PS5 legacy mode. It had ps4 enhanced by ps5, next was ps4 pro games, then ps4 base games. Now I may be reaching here, but not only have they not denied it yet it, but on the legacy logo there seems to be a space for three more systems.

I wanted the PS5 to play PS1 PS2 PS3 and PS4 games, I want it full backwards compatibility, like Xbox.

I understand the difficulty in emulating the PS3's custom hardware; however, with the plethora of emulators available software emulators can easily run on PS5 to not only enable one to play their PS1 and PS2 disc games, but with enhancements as well. However, it makes more revenue to make you buy a remaster or simply re-purchase that title again on one's PS5. Nintendo does this as well. Nevertheless, I have my previous consoles for playing vintage titles, what I find most important is the fact that top Sony PS4 games will function on the new console. This will allow me to dump my PS4 Pro, yet retain my digital PS4 purchases for the new generation PS5. It will be the digital edition PS5 for me this fall.

Keep in mind that a lot of PS3 games were eventually made available to get for the PS4. Then, we'll be able to play them on the 5 once Sony does their thing.

To me it sounds like he said the PS4 games will be playable but the boosted ones are the ones being tested. So the base version of the game will play on the PS5 like on the PS4 but the boosted version is what needs to be tested. Am i hearing that right?
