What do you feel was CCR's best album?

If I was in a band with legendary John Fogerty I would sit back and count the money and leave my pride at the door.

How sad it is that a band that created such wonderful music let ego, resentment and bitterness affect their judgement instead of trying to resolve their difference's and continue

I had a roommate that met Tom while my friend was working room services at a hotel in Phoenix, being a huge CCR fan he recognized him right away. Tom would come to town for treatments, he told my roommate it was cancer, and every time he came to town he'd order room service and talk music with my roommate. One of his last trips he brought him an autographed Tom Fogerty solo album. My roommate was so proud to call Tom a friend. I have no idea what exactly went on with Tom and John but I know Tom didn't need to be nice to my roommate like he was. Besides not being able to patch things up with his brother, it saddens me that Tom and others had to hide their HIV diagnosis back then.

In life, sometimes you have to let it be, move on and let go, just for the sake of peace.

CCR still sounds superb even by today's standards. Amazing band.

My dad has a friend that grew up with the Fogerty's. He said Tom and John always hated each other, even as kids. They fought over everything

Sad. John just had a strong drive, talent and a great voice.

I saw a documentary on Netflix recently that ended up with them playing in the Royal Albert Hall. They showed a lot of the actual concert and they sounded amazing IMO. So tight, one of the greatest rock/blues bands of all time. It’s sad that at some point they weren’t able to forgive each other while they were alive . We all fight with our siblings and who knows what we would do if you threw massive fame into that equation.

I'm not a John Fogerty "worshipper." He makes mistakes like anybody. But I think he cared about CCR's music more than the others.

Mardi Gras has some great moments but most of them are John's. To be fair, the best 2 songs on it that were not sung or written by John were Stu's Door To Door and Cosmo's Tearing Up The Country. They wound up on the B-sides of the singles from that album. The rest of the album was forgettable.

The real villain of CCR's was Saul Zaentz. If the others supported John, they may have stuck together longer. Instead, they formed an alliance with the guy who screwed all of them. It's too bad John and Tom hadn't reconciled like John wanted. Rest in peace, Tom.

It's a shame that Saul Zaentz kept telling the other members how talented they were, offering solo deals to Tom and Doug, and fueling the animosity in the band so that the members wouldn't be able to put up a unified front to renegotiate that horrible record contract. Zaentz is the real reason the band broke up, causing and worsening problems within the band.

yes, john was the head of the group, he wrote all their hits and have an amazing voice, but the others created a sound that made them such a unique band, they were so tight, they remember me a proto ACDC.

Great vid! This explains a lot of things about why CCR broke up. A clash of egos has foundered many a band.

John Fogerty WAS Credence Clearwater Revival. It was HIS songs, it was HIS voice, it was HIS guitar playing that made CCR great. John and CCR would have sounded just as great with ANY other band members. The same cannot be said of the rest of the band. Speaking of which... where is the rest of the band (that's still alive)??? Long forgotten. John is still out there, still sounding great, and still playing guitar great.

Music executives stole many an artist’s work. Look at what happened with Prince. Makes me wonder what would have happened if Saul Zaentz had not been in the way.

I don't know, to me the main truth behind these brothers is that one of them is insanely talented who wrote, crafted and basically ran the group and the other brother was just an average Joe who played rhythm guitar. But nevertheless, CCR is definitely within the top 4 or 5 of my favorite bands of all time!

John is probably my biggest hero in music but I’ve played in enough bands to know what’s going to happen when the band is an autocracy. I’ve heard most of Tom’s songs from his solo efforts and while they don’t live up to John’s standards some would have been good enough for album tracks. Band dynamics always change. It doesn’t matter how much success the band has. There’s always at least one member who isn’t happy with their lot in life.
