Video for older model briggs, this is for 3-3.5 push mower engines, but all air vane governors are all basically the same, they all work the same. And how it works.

First video I found that has the old one-spring governor, and now I understand better. Thanks for a clear, straightforward video.

To shorten the spring is an idea that never crossed my mind. Many thanks for your video.

I found this video very helpful. My springs sprung this morning, leaving my fly-wheel vane flapping in futility. Your simple explanation helped me put the proper names with the parts I'm working with.

SINGLE SPRING, Biggs and Stratton governor's carburettor set up, not very popular on here so you probably new that . And thanks always for a clear explanation without giving a long resume, maybe you have more like this ? Subscribed!

Thank you so much for this video. I didn't have anyone around to help me today & mower stopped running right after going under a tree and it had always run kind of slow to be honest. Had no idea what the governor looked like. Got it all fixed up in no time. spring had come off completely.

Thanks to another video you published, I adjusted my old 42" Snapper rider mower (11 hp) carb and linkage after installing a carb kit. It now runs beautifully!
I am about to do the same on my older Snapper push mower....
Great, down-to-earth instructional videos!

I had the same problem as rdwngfreak. After trying almost everything I could find online, I finally paid attention to "could be a bad gas tank cap". Replaced it w/ one off another mower and it ran great! The gasket had gotten deformed. Thanks guitar player for the great videos!

Thank you for the awesome video, you have helped me to regulate my screaming Briggs which I thought was going to blow up!! Now I am back to a NORMAL RPM and can see many more hours of usage. Thumbs up my friend!

Glad to hear my videos have helped out! First thing i'd check is revving the motor up by the linkage just to rule out a carburetor problem, just move the linkage where it hooks on to the carburetor, if it revs up good, the governor spring may be installed wrong or stretched, if it still doesn't throttle up bypassing the governor, then its probably in the carb, either out of adjustment or needs a new diaphragm, when revving it up like this, don't hold it high speed. thanks for watching!

great video. the throttle mechanism had me beaten. i just couldn't believe that the arm mechanism on the carby was indirectly controlled by the throttle cable via a spring and a wind vane mechanism. amazing. and...yes....very confusing. great stuff. good man

Fantastic video, thank you. My mower is running terrible but with the information you have given, I should be able to sort it out. Many thanks for sharing your knowledge.

This helped me out.I was wondering why on my mower there was slack in the return spring and was frustrating me due to thinking it was working the throttle alone.Makes sense now.Thankyou

Thanks so much for this video. I had a Tecumseh 3hp auger running slow, unless you leaned your chest onto it for some reason. I couldn't figure it out, how the air coming in the top could do anything to the fuel mixture.... This explains it.

Thank you, kind sir! I managed to hyper-extend my throttle spring. I've just adjusted it a bit tighter until the replacement arrives.
