The same rule applies with CNC and conventional machines. In order, the fastest ways to remove material is as follows. Sawing, drilling, turning, milling then grinding. Considering the speed of modern machines tool change operation we could cavitate that hole much faster.

It cracks me up when i tell my boss, sure i can speed that feedrate up to whatever you want, i just gotta cut back on that depth of cut, and he looks at me like i have 5 heads

A manager who cared more about meeting deadlines in a manufacturing industry has to know what is worth sacrificing. Paint isn't even a concern, tools are.
He's right to ignore those complaints over paint.
