Sothebys Auction house just shook it up and introduced a program that will allow artist and their galleries to directly place their work in auction. This will allow artist to make a bulk of the profit from auction, something artist have feigned for.

Hi Moriah! Your channel was recommended to me by another artist so I’m going to binge watch now haha. I just wanted to comment on this video because it seems crazy to me that in the US artists don’t see anything from auction sells. In the Netherlands there's an institution called Pictoright that stands up for the rights of Every time a work resells at an auction (above 3K unless it’s sold within 3 years, then it’s 10K) the artist receives a percentage from 1-4%. It’s called volgrecht or ‘following right’. Obviously it’s not that much, but at least it’s something.

I call BS on this program. After all these years of the Auction houses making Billions,
now they want to include the artist? and why does said artist have to donate to a charity?
How about a Federal law enforcing a percentage from all the Houses to all the artists and create a
Health Insurance Fund without the Elite Devine Selections . This is moving the goal post at best.
