Firstly, have you actually seen where the plant is grown and where the product is produced? It's done in the middle of the jungle, where there is no infrastructure. The leaves often have to be transported with donkeys to production areas.

The knowledge on how to produce high-quality bulk product is easily available. With no experience, an ordinary person could likely create a good product with a few months of practice, given they have access to all precursor materials. Speaking of which, that is the actual true challenge of deciding to enter this "business." Precursor materials are intentionally difficult to get at scale, and that is when network challenges come into play.

There are multiple successful crops, product, and materials that come almost exclusively from the continent.
