Our spymaster makes an entrance in Deadly Sin number four.

Sound the trumpets! Paradox has released Crusader Kings II: Greed, the fourth and of the Deadly Sins live action trailers for medieval strategy / RPG Crusader Kings II

The fourth, and perhaps the last. True to the game, our King has overstretched himself, conquered the lands of far too many rulers and finds himself with a list of enemies as long as his codpiece. Only his spymaster can save the day, and the man is a conniving, filthy, traitorous, two-faced scoundrel. Could anyone ask for a better political ally*?

* SPOILER: Probably they could, yes.

The Dark Ages might be drawing to a close, but Europe is still in turmoil. Petty lords vie against beleaguered kings who struggle to assert control over their fragmented realms. The Pope calls for a Crusade to protect the Christians in the Holy Land even as he refuses to relinquish control over the investiture of bishops - and their riches. Now is the time for greatness. Expand your demesne and secure the future of your dynasty. Fill your coffers, appoint vassals, root out traitors and heretics, introduce laws and interact with hundreds of nobles, each with their own agenda.
A good lord will always need friends to support him. But beware, as loyal vassals can quickly turn to bitter rivals, and some might not be as reliable as they seem... Stand ready, and increase your prestige until the world whispers your name in awe. Do you have what it takes to become a Crusader King?
Crusader Kings II explores one of the defining periods in world history in an experience crafted by the masters of Grand Strategy. Medieval Europe is brought to life in this epic game of knights, schemes, and thrones...

I love how occasionally your spymaster will report that he is spying against you.

It starts with the victory in war screen. Then the spy master gets the flood of discovered plots due to the demesne being too large and new subjects disliking you.The spymaster invites the advisor to back plot but it is discovered. Then, Then the King tells the spymaster and adviser to end plot, since it was discovered he can see they are plotting. The Spymasters first attempt to assassinate him fails, but it is undiscovered  by the King . masterful video....

1:45 Now that's what happens 90% when you send an assassin through the diplomacy screen instead of use plotting

"It's not even really a plot, sire, more like a plotlet..."
"What are you planning?"
"Buy his loyalty."
"Oh. You're right, that really doesn't matter."

I once had a spymaster report he was plotting to murder himself.

I like how King American Dude is more upset that he accidentally pissed off a bunch of people that he thought would be cool with his warmongering than the fact that his beloved entourage is trying to murder him.

To this day, "an ironic war" is still one of the best things I've ever heard. I just love it.

Every now and then I randomly remember these trailers and develop an immediate and urgent need to rewatch them all

Then the question becomes, do you execute them for plotting against you or reward them for their honesty?

“Not unless we call it an ironic war” damn, just predicted how humor would turn out.

The only thing ironic about the game is that for a 40$ game, it has 200$ worth of DLC.
