Dragon Ball Super’s MANGA Is BETTER Than the ANIME

Dragon Ball Super at one point had two completely different stories occuring at once. The manga had been more consistent in terms of overall quality, whereas the anime peaked higher, but at its lowest moments left a lot to be desired. When it comes to the manga vs. anime, which do you prefer?

The manga came off less childish and the things that were different were better

the manga may not be perfect, but it is lightyears ahead of the anime, toei animation ruined a lot of things honestly

Fax the Goku Black arc is one of my favorite arcs in all of Dragonball and I've only watched the anime, but going back and reading it in the manga made me love it WAAAY more

For one, the fights in the Manga just feel more like Z, and Goku isn't as much of a manchild in it. The manga also doesn't overpower Kale and Caulifla. I think Gohan beating them was fairer tan UI being what it took in the anime. The manga version of Goku for one is better. The Manga version of Jiren is better. The manga version of Gohan is easily better. etc.

The manga also is a bit better in scaling in some areas people complained about in the anime, like Goku fighting 17 in the manga at SSJ3 is a bit better than him fighting SSB in the anime. Or Gotens fighting Beerus at SSJ3, instead of in base in the movie and anime of BoG.

1:13 incorrect, Toei does not have any part in Pokemon. Pokemon is done by OLM.

I wish they did Gohan vs Kefla at the tournament of power in the anime too, I wanted to see Himhan again 😭.

I usually prefer manga over adaptations because manga has no stupid filler, no censorship, consistently good visuals, and better pacing. However, I do see the appeal of anime, and I understand why most fans prefer anime over manga.

If I recall dbs 'ended' due to shueisha (toei boss) basically relaized that they kinda fucked up by making the anime go ahead of the manga which is one of the reasons why it 'ended' and also broly.

Fun fact the Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods movie and Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F' movie is way better than the anime versions. also I agree that the manga is better than the anime. but the anime has some better moments like the top goku getting ui and mui was better in the anime but it’s annoying how they changed the gohan vs kelfa fight and replaced it with goku vs kelfa etc.

Super Saiyan Blue has a weakness in the manga & in the anime it doesn't.

I say it depends on the arc or situation, but yeah the majority of the manga differences are usually way better, but when the manga drops the ball (like in the actual ToP) oh man if it drops it hard.
I wish in the future they will do a unified Super manga/anime that takes the best aspects of anime and manga for the definitive Super experience.

I watched the anime and hated all of it. I did hate against dragon ball super all the time when asked. Now that ive read the manga ive made some Peace with it. It gives me the sense that true db fans still need to read the manag in order to get a great experience. The anime is made for an audience which includes children's and people none familiar with dragon ball

I'm going to start the Dragon Ball series (kinda again?), should I go by the anime or the manga? I know anime give something that the manga never can, but I've been hearing a lot of things about how the manga is very different from the anime. For context, I'm planning on watching DB, DBZ KAI & DBS all without the filler.
So what do y'all think? Anime or manga?

The only reason that I like the Dragon Ball Super anime is because it has Battle of Gods, Resurrection F and Broly which don't appear in the manga at all :(

I also don’t think the manga has flat out superior better pacing than the anime in many instances. The battle with Beerus only be less than 20 pages, and the introduction to Super Saiyan God and Videl’s pregnancy all being one page, is pretty bad. Toyotaro hits the fast forward button to much, which greatly lessens what should be extremely impactful moments

I actually love the manga tournament of power so much more than the anime so I was surprised to see that glossed over. Yeah the anime was longer and there was more time to shine for the weaker members, but I felt like the faster pace of the manga felt more realistic for what the TOP was and focused more on the meat of the arc. And Jiren was WAY too overpowered in the anime, not that that is inherently a bad thing but they just spend so much time showing off how ridiculously powerful he is just for that power gap to be trivialized by ultra instinct. I felt like Ultra Instinct being awakened because of Master Roshis "final lesson from turtle school" of focusing on conquering oneself instead of just trying to achieve stronger and stronger battle power was so much more unique and fitting than just absorbing a spirit bomb. They also put more focus on Jirens weakness and downfall being his refusal to work with his teammates, which ties nicely into the theme of the arc being teamwork, and makes Jiren feel like a much more fleshed out character and antagonist with just this little bit of characterization. The fight between Ultra Instinct and Jiren was short and sweet and left you wanting to see more from Ultra Instinct and more from Jiren since he was never truly defeated.

I agree the biggest problem with Super is it rushing through forms, giving them no wait, giving them no feats and the character never really training for them to get stronger in the same spirit as Z. All the new forms feel tacked on and underwhelming aside from UI. The manga presents SSB a lot better than the Super anime because it got more focus and it had a mastered form that followed Whis training of keeping Ki in their bodies to maximize their movement, instead the anime just does the opposite and throws in Kaioken, and explaining that as Ki control.. even though it doesn't fit at all with Whis training in ROF.

The thing that made UI interesting was that it felt more like a Z form, where it was treated like a work in progress, it had the incompletely early stage then the true UI form, and its still treated like a work in progress in the manga. There is no sense that the form is just done and useless the way the anime handled SSG and SSB.

I didn't read the manga at first but watched the anime. It was disgusting. Animations were bad and the tournament of power was childish colorful and had nothing to do with dragon ball. Even more the power level made zero sense. In the manga now I loved toppo vs Frieza/Vegeta and kefla vs Gohan.
I did hate kefla vs Goku ui... It made zero sense
