The Ultimate Off Grid Wall Tent Tour

Welcome to our Wall Tent Tour! We wanted to share all the details of our off grid set up with you now that it’s finished. It took roughly 2 months to build the wall tent + platform (with lots of breaks to snuggle our new baby, of course) and turned out much more like a tiny house than a camping tent. It has a full kitchen, composting toilet, outdoor shower, fridge/freezer, enough solar power to edit these videos and is nestled in the woods in Upstate NY.

It really feels like this is the best adventure we’ve had yet, and it’s just beginning! Lou and I have been dreaming of our own property for so many years and now that we have this incredible base camp to work from it feels like we can start tackling the long list of projects that lie ahead. We can’t wait to get this homestead off the ground and share the whole journey with you.

Wrap metal tin around your post foundation for your wall tent, this will help prevent mice etc. from climbing up into the tent. I did this for our cabin in Alaska works great. Blessings

I would insulate the floor before winter, Looks amazing. Enjoy your life there and be grateful.

I spent enough time living in tents in the military to not want to live in one as a home. No offense to your choice, but you're really brave to do so.

Great to see the tour of the Wall Tent. You have way more storage space than I thought you would have! It's a beautiful home can wait to see how you will build out the property. So happy you have restarted the videos again!!!! Love you guys

This is incredible! Thanks for sharing! Along with many other commenters here, I’m overwhelmingly curious about the toilet situation… and freezing temperature plans. My sister’s tiny house has frozen water line problems almost yearly, and they are trying to find a plan for this coming winter

Be careful with the winter. I had a brand new tent like that and it snowed 6 inches in 18 hours and my tent collapsed/ ripped massive holes in the roof in two separate places.

I think I would add a rain fly to this tent

I lived in a tent for 2 years and I believe the key was having a tarp over the tent with a foot or so between, kept it incredibly cool and dry.

very impressive! what are you guys going to do when winter comes? looks like that tent might get cold?

Isolate the floor properly, then a stove in winter will make the tent a warm place in the winter, even with just canvas walls. It is a beautiful tiny home you made, love the bed, it is beautiful. Baby is adorable! Love your new place and can't wait to see what you do with it as a family of 3! :)
