i live in the heart of the free state in south africa. the farmers have been planting with our recent rains but we still need more rain to make the crops viable. more than 2000 cattle had to be culled because of lack of food and water for them. local wild life like birds have been falling out the sky from heatstroke and dehydration. there is alot more to the story than what has been reported on in the video. Hope to see a follow up on it

I live in Toronto Canada, and El Nino really did make winter warmer. I feel bad now because as we were all celebrating the warm weather people outside of Canada are suffering.

All around the world, almost half the food grown is used to feed the animals, and then the animal is killed for meat consumption.
If we all try and lessen our meat consumption, then less animals will have to be fed, that means more crops that can be sold for cheap, the poor and the hungry can then be able to eat the surplus of crops.
The main reason people die of hunger is because of Meat Industries around the world.
If we all try to eat Meat less, then it can soon have a huge impact on the surplus of crops and vegetables.
So, everyone, lets start from today, and start eating more green and healthy, and less red and bloody

the man is right. basic foods, aka potatoes, plain bread, etc. should have to stay low priced. I would never say they should be free, as there would be no incentives to grow them, but they should stay cheap. if I was in a tough situation right now and I could not pay for anything, I would save on what I could and buy necessities such as food. it's hard to save up when you have to pay all of your money on food rather than getting back on your feet.

If there where 4 or 5 billion people El Ninjo wouuld still be there but food production wouldnot be much less. Using a larger area for livestock and agriculture has deminishing returns. Bigest factor in the ecological crisis too many people. The rich countries reducing polution and energy use is not enough.


Low food price translates in a population boom. Well you know where that is going.

Makes me wonder if in far future when asteroid mining is a thing we could solve Africa´s problem with lack of water. Since some asteroids are composed of water ice we could melt it and filter it from any harmfull properties and then distributed it across Africa. Of course that´s some 2100´s I guess it wouldn´t be economicaly very beneficial. It´s just an idea...
