"If there really was a stem cell treatment... that worked for Alzheimer's, we would already know about this. It would be on the front of the New York Times, it would be on TV, and that's just not the case..." Not necessarily...

There appears to be a consensus that there are numerous different possible causes for Altzheimer’s disease.
A frequently recurring one being Hyperinsulinaemia associated with difficulty in the sensitive cells with high energy needs, being unable to obtain sufficient nutrients in the form of glucose.
And a solution being to try to help the patient produce Ketones, which can provide augmented energy for the mitochondria that bypasses the dysfunctional metabolism of glucose in those cells…..
I have been trying to help my wife in this respect for some time, and despite the fact that she now has fairly advanced dementia, when her ketone level is above 1.0mmol/L she appears to me to improve in the Aspects of Daily Living, which I find helpful just from the point of view as her Carer…..

Most of the time, who's paying for a study is just as if not more important than the results of a study.

I think the cause of Alzheimer's disease is the death of the neurons of the locus coeruleus. I myself went through memory and sleep problems after a severe period of sleep deprivation. If you look up online, sleep deprivation damages locus coeruleus, and subsequent to that are the memory/sleep problems. Do some research, I am pretty sure alzheimer's would fix itself with stem cells aimed to restore the function of the locus coeruleus. Greetings.
