The speaker, of course, is a respected person, but at the 12:30 he changes the thesis. The G in AGI stands for General. What does half the economy have to do with it? Does he know what money is currently in derivatives? A narrow AI effectively trading derivatives will generate much more profit than 50% of all profits in the economy. And manage funds larger than 50% of the economy. But, this will not make him AGI. 1000 different narrow AIs doing 50% of the work in the real economy will still not become General AI. This is either a misunderstanding or a deliberate deception 😥

I completely disagree that to be able to predict the next word means to understand.
Words are abstract descriptions of things and until the AI has sensors to "experience" those things, it won't understand.
