I wasn’t allowed to cry either. I had to be happy, even if that meant faking it, and that made me always have a fake smile. And that fake smiling turned into a way of coping, but now nobody seems to believe me because I look so happy all the time.

When you hold in your tears later even the smallest things can make you breakdown letting all thos pain out without you realising

To the person struggling with the silent wounds of mental abuse, your resilience in enduring such a challenging situation is truly admirable. It’s important to acknowledge that the negative words and manipulations inflicted upon you do not define your worth or capabilities. You deserve to be treated with kindness, respect, and love, and it's crucial to remind yourself of your intrinsic value every day. Reaching out for support and surrounding yourself with those who uplift you can be a powerful step towards healing. Remember, your mental health is a priority, and taking steps to protect and nurture it is a sign of strength. Keep going, because you have the power to reclaim your life and find peace and happiness beyond the abuse.

I just randomly burst out crying from flash backs, she doesn’t realize how much she broke me. I got such weird looks when the teacher asked “what do you do when someone is misbehaving” and said “you hit them”

And when people see you cry so much they just think you’re a crybaby…

My parents always told me I was “fake crying” even as tears ran down my face. Now I never cry in front of anyone, no matter who they are, because I think they’ll judge me.
Thanks mom and dad ❤️‍🩹

holding back your tears is hard enough, but when your older or “the older sibling” (I mean the mature one) it puts even more pressure on your back

For the people who grew up in the type of household that was, “if you don’t stop crying, I’m going to give you something to cry about”, don’t be afraid to tell someone, don’t be afriaid to cry. ❤

One of the worst things you can tell a child that is upset cause you yelled at them is if you dont stop crying, im going to give you a reason to cry

It is actually really bad to hold in tears, as it makes even the smallest thing tip you over and start the flow. You need a space where you feel safe to cry, and trust me, it helps
