Just bought another OM-1 under the cash back scheme and traded in my two EM1 m3s. Only buy new cameras or lenses from my two main dealers and get the guarantees. With an additional battery the OM-1 only ended up costing me £550 😊😊. I do buy secondhand cameras and lenses occasionally but again only from recognised sellers and can return if not suitable or have a 6 month guarantee. Well worth looking at used units. My recent Sony a1 and 100-400mm lens were as good as new and I got £2000 off the price of a new camera. Just been using the Sony a1 to shoot video of Short Eared Owls in flight with the excellent 200 - 600mm lens and x1.4 TC on a Manfrotto tripod and fluid head. Need to practise and see if I can do some slight tweaks on the camera settings. Only slight issue is my iMac is now showing signs of age and will not work with the highest level 4K video compression and 10 bit rate so guess it is time to look at an upgrade. Keep on posting your nice clips 😊🥰🥰

For me, some of the best deals I've had were the factory refurbished bodies. I got a bunch of my OM Systems and Nikon bodies at really crazy low prices directly from OM Systems and Nikon. They don't come with the original box, but they have all the accessories, and the cameras often look quite new, and I get more enjoyment making my pictures because I'm not worried as much about my gear

I’m considering purchasing the OM 5, how is it for bird photography (the OM 1 is not in my budget)? Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Hi Emilie
Following your purchase of the OM-5 I have become very interested in this camera- however when researching it online there is a tremendous ammont of negativety regarding the tripod socket plate - basically it is (apparantly) only attached to a plastic base plate (not sure what type of plastic) by 4 small srews and when used with a Peak Design attachment, or indeed a heavier lens, can cause too much torque for the socket to handle and at best the bottom plate can warp and at worst it can sheer completely.
Apparantly this is a problem following over from the EM5 iii so its been around for a while.
As you have this particular body I was just wondering if you have had any problems with the body or indeed whether you have any concerns about this negativity affecting your purchase.
