Wayne's World - Stairway to Heaven (fixed)

My own personal "fix" of this scene, where I replaced the bogus notes played by Wayne with the actual opening four notes from "Stairway to Heaven". I had to use my own voice for the clerk's "Hey!!!" as well.

I saw this in the theater and it was one of my favorite parts in the movie. It was such a bummer they replaced the real notes with that guitar screech in every release after that. This is almost exactly like the original theatrical release. Thanks for that!

That is so relatable. The vast majority of times I visited a music store, I heard some beginner showing off with "Stairway to Heaven". I was even guilty of it myself when I was a beginner about 25 years ago. It's the number one song that beginners use to show off that they are becoming good at guitar. The second most common one I heard was "Thunderstruck" by AC/DC. Third was "Fur Elise", though that was the piano beginners. Which I also used to show off when playing piano. I'm still not good enough at violin, viola, or cello to show off on them yet. I'm still very new to them.

What songs did any of you hear beginners use to show off? If you play an instrument yourself, what did you play to show off? All us musicians did it, so don't pretend you didn't. lol

I remember seeing this in the theaters but not really getting the joke, as I was only vaguely military with the song. Not long after that, I started playing guitar and frequenting music stores. When this movie would be on TV, I would always look forward to this part … only to find myself going “wait that was not Stairway to Heaven or anything for that matter.” Only later did I find out about the rights lapsing between the theatrical and video release.

One thing that has always bugged me is that in my many times of watching this movie/that particular scene, I was pretty certain that I had seen 2 versions of the No stairway sign. The other 1 was 🚫 with the words NO STAIRWAY over the top of the Prohibition symbol. My friends thought that I was bat 💩 crazy!
Then, 1 day, I watched a video on Wayne's World on the YouTube channel Daze with Jordan the lion. He visited the music store & the owner told of 2 different No Stairway signs.
Man, I was relieved!

I saw this movie in theaters in 2nd grade, a friend’s mom took us to see it. When he pointed to the sign, people were clapping and cheering.

pretty good; my only feed back is that there should be a screech when the clerk steps in, just like the cut versions - or at least notes fading out. The abrupt silence feels a little unnatrual

I wasnt born to see this movie in the cinema, but for me this is a key childhood memory film, my father is a metalhead, and my taste and passion for music comes from here, also this scene is why i own a guitar just like the one Wayne plays
