This is amazing! Very helpful for my exam! I'm 13 years old and I just passed my Grade 4 Exam with a merit! I'm hoping I can pass my Grade 5 exam as well. I chose A3, B2, and C2!

Your demonstration is so helpful to those students who are going to prepare the exam in 2023-24! (Btw this syllabus is really more difficult than last two years. Not just grade 5, but also grade 3 and 4🥲)

I love this video! Very helpful and thank you so much! I chose A3, B1, and C1. I feel these are good practice to improve techniques. I particularly like B3 you played, the staccato is played very effective (My fingers bounce high that slows down the speed. I’m working on it😊)- quite a challenge to keep one hand relaxed the other controlled and bouncy to a fast tempo. The finger movements are great. The wrist movement is also very helpful. The camera angle is placed well. You must be a very experienced teacher!

3:34 this is great! Why did you play the last three notes (LH) as staccatos?

Based on my experience of having students play these so far I'd say:
A1- This one's actually easier than it sounds. Everyone seems to get it fairly quickly. In terms of dynamics and articulation, it's all very straightforward.
Just don't keep practicing it fast since that'll make it get worse.
A3- Some of the transitions in the first section and synchronizing the hands in the second section can be tricky but, overall, it's also very playable.
B1- Probably the hardest one. The multiple voices throughout and constant modulations in the middle part make it quite challenging, along with need to make the melody stand out and be connected.
B2- Harder than it seems. Everyone seems to have trouble getting the fingering and slurs right.
C1- Very playable.
C3- Chords can be difficult to memorize, since most students aren't used to jazz harmony. Also difficult to get the character right in a way that doesn't make it sound boring.

This is really helpful as I am starting to decide which pieces to decide. Do you ever do this for pieces that are on the syllabus but not in the book?
