Envisioning the future of teleoperation for surgery - sensitive KUKA LBR iiwa robot makes it possible

The KUKA LBR iiwa has force torque sensors on each of its seven axes. This enables it to not only be safe when working directly with humans, but to also be used for remote operations that require haptic feedback.

When using it as a teleoperation device, the LBR iiwa provides human-like touch sensitivity. And when combined with real-time visual feedback in virtual reality the entire operating room can be simulated for remote surgery.

This is just one example of how the KUKA LBR iiwa is proving its versatility outside of the industrial human-robot collaborative tasks it was designed for and opens an entirely new possibility for the best surgeons to be anywhere, at any time.
