Nick Ferrari hears from investigative journalist Ian Birrell and political commentator Claire Pearsall following Robert Jenrick's claims that 'mass immigration and woke culture' are leading England into a national identity crisis.

The Tory leadership hopeful has blamed immigration for what he considers to be a growing identity crisis, explaining that the ties binding the nation together are beginning to "fray."

The Conservative leadership candidate said the scale of net migration, which peaked at 764,000 in 2022, has created “profound challenges” for society.

Mr Jenrick also went as far as to suggest that this crisis contributed to this summer's riots, with unrest spreading across the country in the wake of the Southport knife attack, which killed three young girls.

It's like the guy in that old video said: Being British means driving a German car, to and Irish themed pub, to drink Belgian beer, then going home to order an Indian takeaway, sit on a Swedish sofa, watch American shows on a Japanese TV. All the while being suspicious of anything foreign.

Most things that English people describe as “British” are just English. You call them British because it feels inclusive, but then use the terms interchangeably in a way that the Welsh and Scottish never would and it drowns out our national identities.

Jenrick was an immigration minister in the Sunak government. His main policy then was to paint over the cartoons in the Children's Immigration Centre. He's obviously not progressed much since then.

I love how people are so concerned about protecting British culture from other cultures but totally fine surrendering our culture to corporatism. I'd say high street pubs are at much more risk from Wetherspoons. Fish and chip shops are less at risk from Indian take-aways and more at risk from Macdonalds. Grocers, Butchers and a multitude of other services were allowed to die off in favor of Tescos. Multiculturalism was never the threat, you just bought into the fear campaign. Libraries, social clubs, sea side towns all of those prior cornerstones of traditional life where culture can be preserved have been sold off for not being profitable enough. We did this with our every day decisions and it's about time to recognize and correct it because no migrant coming here is against us doing so, you can literally just ask them and they'll tell you that.
