I tried Web Design in VR - Meta Quest 3

The new Meta Quest 3 was released, and I decided to try web design using it. The Virtua reality headset for website design was actually something I was not expecting to enjoy as much as I did!

User interfaces will never be designed the same again. I can see how augmented reality will be as important as No Code in the future.

Facebook has the new Oculus Quest 3 VR headset, and the user experience for it was great. I tried building websites using Figma, Wix Studio and even a bit of coding using vscode to write some javascript, and I really enjoyed the meta quest workspaces application.

I really liked to know that the software development is doable with this tech. It is rare to find someone talking about this with reviews of VRs/ARs

This might be the thing that finally gets me to wash dishes and do house chores consistently 🤣

Nice video. I work in VR since 2020. Every day 8h. I do even my video calls with my customers in VR. It works great for me.

Did you try immersed VR? The graphics are sharp enough now that you could easily spend 2 to 3 hours using it on quest 3. You can have up to 5 monitors (4 feels about right) and you can run it in passthrough mode too (you'll probably want to have the quest powered with a battery or cable whilst using it). Since you were looking at web dev, and the passthrough element have you also seen web XR? You could create a passthrough experience with 3d elements of html in your room. I've done that on quest 2 but not tried it yet on quest 3.

I bought the Quest 3 as I had the Quest 2, and my main purpose for buying them is productivity, specifically pertaining to work. With the Quest 2, the resolution left a lot to be desired in terms of text clarity, so working in VR for an hour or two definitely left my eyes feeling strained and could give me a headache, but the Quest 3 doesn't. The increased resolution combined with the pancake lenses makes for such a good combo, to where it feels like the clarity can't really get that much better.

Immersed is definitely the way to go for now, as they allow you to not only bring your real monitors into VR, but also make virtual monitors that you can even increase the resolution to 4k on granted you get the pro version. That said, I haven't found a way to utilize this for better clarity, it simply just increases the size of the monitor/fits more pixels into the screen. Setting a 200% scaling on the monitor brings it back to its regular size, but I haven't found that it's visibly clearer, although some do report that. As an added bonus, you can chill out with random people while you work in Immersed, even fully muted, which gives the working-in-a-café feel to it.

This is the worst working in VR will be, so definitely looking forward to what's next!

Great video! I am planning to buy the meta quest 3 for machine learning programming, it looks very promising and better than using monitor!

They should create gloves that make you feel every touch, that would be amazing when typing and stuff for the future.

What would be really cool for me, is Blender being hooked up to the app. I can model away as normal on my desktop and with a simple click have the model appear in my room so I can inspect it up close and make slight adjustments. Along with the game engine and my code editor all on the screens too that would be perfect. But I'm defiantly going to try this out when coding up sites using python and so on. I play games on my Quest 2 and now my Quest 3 daily but never thought about using it for work.

Immersed is the way to go for productivity in VR. The free version is capped at 3 screens, 1 @ 2560x1600p and 2 @ 1920x1080 which is fine for me. If you get the pro version I believe you can have 5 screens all running at 2560x1600. You can also set where your keyboard is IRL and it will have passthrough where your keyboard is if you're like me and need to look at the keys every now and then.

Game Developer here. I use Godot to make 2D games and not too realistic. Would be nice for any game devs in using a VR headset as their workspace.

Just a small note about the meta quest Browder, you can actually resize that small window by clicking on one of the options along the menu bar just below the window, it's on the left side next to your battery bar

Man, I wish I can afford it right now. I'd wear this around the house indefinitely. Till then I'm sticking to my banged up quest 2.

thank you man, i have been searching for this again and again since the quest 3 came out. I wanted to buy a new monitor for work and i am a web developer and was wondering if this is a actual viable options for coding.

Thats one of the best videos for the quest 3, thanks!
The passthrough mode really looks cool.

Do you think if you are mainly a programmer writing stuff the resolution is enough too or do you have to get closer a lot when typing?

Bluetooth keyboard and mouse linked with the Quest allow you to use them in Virtual Desktop.
I am using a Shadow PC and I can use it anywhere this way as a PC.

This is probably the closest to my intended use case but more for general graphic design which at times includes front end web design

Any thoughts on how text look on the quest 3? Quest 2 had some blurry text when looking at something like vscode, wonder if it was improved.
