A factor of a number is any whole number that divides the original number exactly, without leaving a remainder. In other words, if a number can be multiplied by another number to give the original number, those two numbers are factors of the original number.

For example:

The factors of 24 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12, and 24 because:
1 × 24 = 24
2 × 12 = 24
3 × 8 = 24
4 × 6 = 24
