Guys… getting a job as a new grad was so difficult. I documented my new grad job hunt process for software engineering, and I’m here to share it with you! This was definitely one of the most humbling experiences ever :’). If you’re a new grad watching this, know that I believe in you!!! You’ll get there, I promise. Just stick with it.

Some helpful resources during my recruitment process:
- Don't be afraid to cold message/email recruiters! Really put yourself out there - you never know what could happen!
- And, this is gonna sound cheesy, but don't forget to believe in yourself. You're smart, and you're good at what you do. Never forget that - even when the process is absolutely terrible!

p.s. if you saw that i put the wrong time at the end, no you didn’t🙈

A few tips from a software engineer in big tech:
- Right now, the job market is pretty bad for juniors, so don't lose hope keep applying and improve your resume(Add relevant key words to get past the pesky ATS systems)
- Practice the blind 75 questions, those should be enough practice to solve any technical questions.
- Do learn in depth how the language/Framework you use is better than other languages/Frameworks out there, it's always beneficial to show in depth knowledge then talk about a lot of things you have shallow knowledge in.
- Always ask 2 why's to every concept you learn, keeps you curious and shows expertise in an interview setting.

Good luck peeps, God speed!

I didn't find work until 6 months after grad and felt all the same things. So embarrassed, self-esteem in the gutter

I literally started jumping when u finally got the job, I felt so happy for you ❤. I am currently in that same rock bottom, I am also a CS grad from India and unemployed rn…… (got a job through college campus interview, but the company ghosted me ) everything is just stuck, everyday is just same……. I keep updating my resume, keep practicing leetcode but yeah ! Feels like a failure cause I just cant seem to get an interview call. Honestly tho it felt so comforting to see your journey and to know that I am not alone ……. I hope someday soon I will also be able to share with you that I got a job. Thanks for this video ❤

I'm in a similar boat rn. Ended up graduating without an offer. I have amazing grades, but occupied my winters and summers with classes instead of internships due to a late major change. I'm 30 applications and 2 interview invitations in, and I feel all the emotions that you felt...being slow at filling out applications, screwing up the only chance I might have had, feeling lost, being ghosted by recruiters, etc.

This video is really encouraging. Keep up the great work!

i'm nowhere near qualified enough to be giving recruitment process advice, but i'm here to share my experience! i hope this resonates and helps even one person know that they're not alone in this. it's a freaking terrible process! anyway! here are some of the resources that helped me along the way. feel free to add some of yours :))

oh and for anyone curious - I DID NOT LAND ANY FAANG LEVEL JOBS LOL. i'm too dumb for that! so take my advice with a grain of salt hehe

- And, this is gonna sound cheesy, but don't forget to believe in yourself. You're smart, and you're good at what you do. Never forget that - even when the process is absolutely terrible!

p.s. if you saw that i put the wrong year at the end, no you didn’t🙈

Keep grinding. I have been there. I didn't get a job after my graduation for about 8 months, but kept applying and learning. Now I am Software Engineer who wants to learn and grow even more.

The fact that you can show this to the world shows you have resilience and passionate about CS. You're not too late to go into CS even though you studied bio. Keep it up!

I went to a trade school instead, I got a job Immediately. The trades arnt for everyone, it’s hard work but that’s what I like to do. I honestly feel bad for people getting into programming, they were hyping that up so much in high school and even parents! It’s the future job they say. I’m glad I’m too dumb for that stuff, I only wish they hyped up the trades too. It’s like they’re looked down upon and treated as peasant work. I hope you don’t give up, it’s a lot of years spent learning. We all in this together

SUPER happy how things played out for you! I also graduated 2023 and I related to so much of the struggles and thoughts you had during my process as well (the feeling of life on pause hit hard). After a loong process, I landed my first job in March. Congratulations and enjoy your new monitor! I also wish good luck to everyone that in the job search currently!

It's great to know that I am not ALONE in this journey! I've started documenting my journey too (just a little digital diary), so I really know how this process can be stressfull. Depression, shame for myself, sadness

Edit: I found a job!)

Me not even out of high-school yet, but I feel for you😭. I don’t have it hard at all because I haven’t started applying to jobs yet, seeing you grind makes everything feel worth it. I’ve had similar feelings like feeling behind. The way you format this video makes it feel like I’m listening to a long-time friend sharing their ups and downs after being busy for so long.
