You are right kids don’t have the patience for all the adjustments so I started mine young and did most of the adjustments first then let them see me do the final ones. As they got older the more time I exposed them to. They all love it now and I am starting on the grandkids.

Definitely dobs, or some kind of newtonian for visual. Biggest aperture for your money!

Dear Ray, thank you for the wonderful explanation. I am thinking of buying a portable go to mount (due to light pollution I need to drive significant distances to get to any relativity dark place). I was interested to know your opinion on ioptron smarteq pro + mount. I know it has a very low payload capacity but contains both goto and portability. Will it be a suitable mount for astrophotography for a beginner like me?
