Great Video! I think the dual compound tires are the ticket for Tubliss. I'm currently running the IRC JX8 at around 2-3 PSI it's incredible and is holding up very well so far. The JX8 has the soft compound across all of the knobs and the harder compound starts just below the base of the side knobs, rather than transitioning across the knobs like the Shinko DC tires. The JX8 is made in Japan and would probably be yet another great option for you as well. We can't get the 540DC over here yet but it looks like it would be a great spring time wet sloppy ride tire. Very encouraging to hear that it still works well on the rocks and roots with such a wide spaced tire as well.

I believe in the US, Shinko calls it the 520 DC. That’s what they have listed on their USA site. Maybe they are the same or not but they list the 520 DC as dual compound with gummy center.

When I put tubliss on my new bike and the rear on my trials bike I used rubber grease. Used some ATV tire sealant (similar to tire slime) on my last bike and I'm sure it's what ate my rims away.

You rode on Oahu.. what you think about Kahuku type soil? Not sure if you rode in mud there though..but just wondering if you think might be good.. Thanks for your vids!!!

Good review, but is a good tire on the wet stones?

I really don’t see any need for lube on the tubliss system. It isn’t like the tire is spinning and the tubliss is stationary. They’re both in a fixed position. Yes, the tire can touch the tube, but it isn’t rubbing or causing friction when it does...it’s only touching it. Just my .02

Interested in the grease concept. What about coating the inside of the tire with it though?.. (centrifugal forces may throw it off of the tubliss?)

Do you prefer your carb bikes over your TPi bike?

What bikes do you have currently? From what I see the 2017 250 EXC and the 2020 300 EXC? What do you prefer about each? You've stayed with the 2017 for quite a while now, when do you think you'll be selling it on?

How do you think that tire compares to the irc m5b in soft loamy conditions?

What Compound the tire is? Soft/medium?

Any new tire would be decent in full gas uphills in dry conditions. Does it stay put in switchbacks? Does it track well in offcamber? What about stones and wet roots? I'm riding with a metzeler 6 days super soft that barely has any knobs left and I could bet would do the uphills you filmed without a problem.

I’m surprised you didn’t go with the 36mm carb for the conditions you ride. Any thoughts?

I’ve got the 525, I already thought I was cheating

A 540DC feels like cheating doesn't it

Just run tire slime... It will lubricate and plug small holes. Two birds one stone deal.

The pattern looks just like a Yokohama from 25 years ago. Maybe they bought the mold.
