I really like the Shinko tires, they last for a while and aren't all that expensive. I use the shinko 520A in the rear and the MX 216 series in the front. So far they have been great.

I have ballpark 500-600 hours on this tire in this size. It's a fantastic tire and an excellent option for Tubliss. I would highly recommend this tire for tubliss - the tough carcass holds up well. New england woods, roots, rocks, mud, sand, single track, 2 track. It's great everywhere with no complaints. This tire runs narrow and IMO the 90/100 isn't that much of a fatty front. I run the fatty size so that it's not a skinny front.
The go-to tire everyone here loves is the M59 front which is a great tire as well (but not a good tubliss option) and I plan to give that a go now that I have so much experience on the F546 and see how I like the M59 in comparison. Could be a tough call though as I've switched to mousses. Currently I'm liking the soft mousse in the F546 (stiffer tire). Going to M59, perhaps I should try a firmer mousse. Undecided on that just yet.

I have used a Shinko fat tyre, I ride in Western Australia, rocky hard pack, some sand tree roots, tyre overall was very good, ran it with tubliss at 15 psi handles all terrain reasonably well, good wear as u pointed out, prefer the Michelin Starcross 5 medium it corners better gets reasonable mileage as well, tried the Dunlop AT 81 good tyre, but always go back to the Starcross 5 medium, 👍d

I’ve ran this on the front of my bike for the last 2 tries. I run mooses. It’s held up good and has a good price. Has good impact protection for hard hits.

This is all I run in the front. Probably 5-6 tires last year between 2 bikes. Tried 216 once - 3 thorn punctures (at 14-15PSI !!!), torn knobs. Never again. 546 is the most stable tire for me in leaves and needles, as knobs don't roll under heavy, downhill braking. They pierce the soil and don't let go. There's a bit less traction on naked rocks than 216. But this one is way more predictable. I've had quite a few surprise let-goes with 216 (mostly because knobs roll). When just a couple of side knobs get on a sharp, rocky edge, the 546 holds. 216 rips off. But on flat, slanted, smooth rocks, the 216 holds better.

I like your videos. Your videos is what motivated me to get a ktm xcw 250. I like it a lot.

That’s a good tire, I also run heavy duty tube and 11psi 👍🏻

Have you tried the Shinko 216 front cheater yet? Its incredibly soft and the side knobs aren't showing any signs of tearing with about 30-35 hours on it and the extra grip on rocks and roots has been mind blowing.

Very similar tread pattern to Kenda Washougal and they work fantastic!

Thanks great review. I've been running the 216 for a while now and am very interestied in this one now. How would you say it compares to the 216 fatty. Thanks again.

Have the 216 fat tire and the Tusk Recon fat tire, this seems like a good one to try as well.

Can I use a 90/90-21 inner tube with this tire

Wish I could find one that was taller than the 70/100/19. Could maybe go with an 80 wide if I had to but for sure a taller one.

The Shinko 546 was my go to tire, until the MX216 Cheater came out. Now the Cheater is the go to tire. Just about 15-20% more traction then the 546.

I find that the 546 fatty tire wants to climb out of ruts, wich makes it a bit unpredictable and can get a bit anoying. The shinko 216mx 90 90 tire(the non fatty version) in the other hand is verry predictable and confidence inspirering

Greetings from Nagoya. Recently me and a mate have been thinking of getting some old 250's for fun. We are both street riders and haven't owned off-road bikes for decades. It would be good to meet up at some point after we have sorted our new toys out. Do you ride to the trails or take the bikes with a Kei truck or similar? Ever been to Aichi? Cheers mate. Loving the channel!
