i'd assume the rarest pet drop would be the "dirtiest block" pet, having about 6 per medium world, the chances may seem a bit higher but considering the fact you have limited dirt and hypothetically unlimited slimes and trees you could be mining forever

you're right on the slime staff and dinosaur pet both being 1 in 10, 000 (though with the dinosaur pet, using desert fossils instead of silt/shush increases the chance to around 1 in 3700), but the sugar glider is only 1 in 1, 000. also the dirtiest block exists

Amber mosquito is technically rare, but get about 200-500 fossil blocks and its pretty much guaranterd drop, i got it a few times

I want to report my amazing luck. I recently started a new world an character, and decided I would do a summoner run.
Right after getting a flinx staff, a slime dropped the staff. That’s not all.
I got the sugar glider as I was just gathering wood for houses.
And you want to hear the luckiest? In hardmode, literally the second enemy I killed in the ice biome dropped the biome key. It shocked me and I started laughing.
All on the same character and world. I wish I could show it as it happened

I’ve played terraria since like 2016 i think, I’ve gotten many slime staffs and dinosaur pets, but not once have i gotten the sugar glider

Slime staff is a 1/10000 chance from green slime and stuff but lower for harder slimes like the pinky 1/100 or the sand slime 1/8000

Wow i have that sugar glider. On my most recent world makes sense though because i had to created a massive tree farm because i was building a large tree base
