ah yes, I need to drive over rollers all day. I better just throw away my 2014 CR-V even though it has proven to be a beast on unplowed snow roads on summer tires

I have all season tyres on my 2.0 auto EX. A few weeks back in the snow, I was able to over take 6 cars struggling for traction on a hill. I pulled off from a stand still with out any wheel spinning and gently drove passed them all. I think tyre choice was a major factor so for all the manual versions watching this video, just get some good tyres and don't worry about the AWD.

The AWD system in the CRV was designed for simplicity and fuel economy. It wasn’t designed to be good offroad. They could have made a full time AWD system like Subaru, but choose not to.

Great job.

At my previous job, when things were bad, I as using the word "interesting" as a synonym of "BS" or "shit".

...I see this is a Polish thing. :)

Great video. There's absolutely no logic to the Honda CRV system! It's odd how when the passenger side was on rollers, both the front and rear drove, yet the side with the traction did nothing.
I do have a 2014 CR-V and it's done everything I've asked of it, but it's AWD system when you watch videos like this does leave much to be desired.

I had the same problem with my 2014 CRV. I was so surprised. The dealer told me to put the car in 2 gear and turn off the traction control. Still, this should not be happening.

There is a way to improve this. You can add a Torsen diff in the front and heldex in the rear.

Every single car I had spin the wheel with last traction. I think it's so you don't go after straight line like a tank.

Ok. Glad I saw this. I'm no longer shopping for a CRV.

As far as I know, automatic gearboxes are better for 4X4 / AWD cars. After how many tests have you done, what do you think?

I don't know what to think. It's not uncommon for automatic gearbox, especially torque converters automatic gearbox, to be more efficient in AWD transmissions. This is particularly the case with the interaction with traction control. The torque converter slips at low speeds and low engine rpm. This increases the torque (approximately x2) and smoothes the delivery of torque to the wheels. This means that traction control is often and more activated with less throttle. But that's not the difference here. Even with a manual gearbox, the traction control seems to work quite well despite the fact that it is fully EPS dependent. Oddly enough, Honda seems to have set up the multi-plate clutch to transfer more torque to the rear wheels with the automatic gearbox.

Hello dear!
It’s coming the moment to test the news plug in hybrid vehicles, like the jeep renegade 4xe or the Land Rover discovery with the rear electric motor!
A hug from Barcelona!

I'm surprised that the automatic version was better... However neither is good enough. Thanks for the test :)

Interessant! Sonst funktioniert es ohne ESP besser. Hier je mehr Elektronik, umso besser. Sogar die Automatik war deutlich überlegen. Erstaunlich!

RT4WD was pretty useless. Should've implemented VTM4 (or higher-spec) system a few years

You should compare with facelifted model

Just WTF !?!
Have 2.4 AWD 2016 CR-V with CVT and like to do same thing.

I have doubt (ask owner) question about gearbox oil in both car and rear differential oil. Are they changed on time(maintenance) and is there use Honda oil for it ? Thanks

Real time AWD is actually using muti plate cluch to distribute the front axle and rear axle, normally 100/0 and the limit is 50/50.
