My Journey game review - an review of Journey, one of the greatest video games of all time, soon to be out on the Epic Games Store. I wanted to have a Journey review ready for the Journey PC release date. I wanted to review Journey (game) because it is one of my favourite all time games having played the og Journey PS3 game and the Journey PS4 remaster. This review uses Journey gameplay, and the incredible Journey soundtrack in the background to emphasise and illustrate my thoughts on this epic game.

Explore the ancient, mysterious world of Journey as you soar above ruins and glide across sands to discover its secrets. Play alone or in the company of a fellow traveler and explore its vast world together. Featuring stunning visuals and a Grammy-nominated musical score, Journey delivers a breathtaking experience like no other.

It truly is a masterpiece. At first i was having trouble if whether the 2nd player was a bot or a human being! I eventually realized. Iwent through the las part with a mate and it felt so epic, i really felt conection. Its an important lesson of how much you can make someone feel with so little. Pure art.

So cool how people are still discovering this absolute masterpiece 7 years after it came out. Indeed the 7th anniversary of Journey is coming up in a few days (March 13th in the US, the 14th in the EU) and every year I do a playthrough of it. Hope you'll join me!

Just finished it the first time on Steam. I already knew that there were no npc. Then I met another person in the "sand skiing" part who stayed with me until the end. He/she showed me where to find the glowing things and allways waited up for me. I felt so connected to this person. Before the flying part at the end I thougt I lost him/her. When I heard the singing and saw him/her again I was so happy. I have to admit that I cried at the end a little. What a ride.

It blew me away when i realized i was playing with actual people.. i started reading youtube comments like 5-10 min in my first game play on youtube... and i had already lost the first person i came across not knowing it was a real person...

When i came across the 2nd person i was so excited... its so crazy how after i realized it wad a real person i actually felt sad... but so badly wanted to meet someone else!

And then once i did... they were sort or cold and probably didnt realize i was a real person haha and then they just left me... desperately wanting to find a companion to beat the game with i kept hoping someone else would come along.. finally they did.... they seemed more interested in blasting forward and seemed annoyed by me and didnt want to work together.... but i kept going with them and finished the game with them, i was hoping once the game was over they would give a minute for you and the player you finished with to run around together.

But honestly that aspect of the game blew me away... its kind of crazy the sense you get of wanting to have a friend in the game even not knowing their age, gender, sex... simple, straight forward game, beautiful. And coupled with its ability to have you want to make friends... brilliant brilliant
Game.

Thank you so much for telling me that the other people I saw were not NPCs, but in fact real people. I have a bit of a story that happened in my playthrough because of that.

So, I went into Journey completely blind. I knew there was a desert, and I knew what the main character looked like, but that was it. When I made it to the ice mountain section, someone was there eight at the beginning at the same time. I thought it was an NPC, but I decided to go with it anyway, as it was fun having a friend in the desolate ice area. We travelled a good ways up together, and he was a good motivation for me to keep walking. It was going well, until tragedy struck.

After travelling about 3/4 of the way up the mountain, he just... stopped. I tried to get him to move again by pressing the space bar near him, but he wouldn't budge. And then, all of a sudden, he disappeared into dust. I was saddened by this. My companion that I had made it this far with had just disintegrated. But this did not hinder my progress; in fact, it made me more motivated. I still thought that this was a pre-programmed event, and it would have made sense if it were. But now that I've watched this, I think that he just logged out. I think he's still alive, in fact, he's probably beaten the game too by now. But now that I know he did not really die, I can rest knowing that maybe, in q future playthrough, our paths will cross once again.

This game was, without a doubt, the most surprising and interesting experience I have ever had with a game in years. I had seen a couple of short videos of Journey beforehand and had no idea it was a multiplayer game. I was confused and surprised when I came across another human player. I was unsure at first if he was an NPC, only realizing what was going on after he returned my morse-code SOS shout. What happened afterward I can only describe as the most purely human connection I have ever felt with a stranger since playing video games. I felt an obligation to go on this pilgrimage together with this other human, sitting in his/her chair probably thousands of miles apart. We sang to each other after completing small parts and huddled together for warmth when struggling through the mountain section of the game. When the pilgrimage came to an end, we each sang our little goodbyes, and I am sure he/she was as genuinely happy and fulfilled as I was. For me, this game deserves its place among Nier:Automata and Death Stranding as a shining example of the real human connections a game can create among its players and will stay with me for a long time.

Found you on reddit. I've never played this game but glad you offered such a clean and clear description of it.

I just replayed the game. I met a stranger on the 3rd level. We spent the rest of the game together. We really cared about eachover, so fun. You feel a connection with the other player. Even though you never spoke. Or even wrote anything. Amazing game. Unlike any multiplayer game. 10/10

Thank you for your beautiful analysis and review. It's very interesting to me how this game helps building emergent narrative. Ocean-like creatures made of robes that are floating and flying in the sky, ruins of a civilization buried in the sand, the floating experience that resembles a dream, and as you said, the size of the character in the vast expanse of desert, player’s current experience compared to murals are to name a few, which feed player’s imagination to make stories based on their own perception of the gameplay.

Who else here has played any of Journey, FlOwer and flOw? I was a big fan of all three and will definitely be touching on some more epic 'arthouse' games in the future (Ico, and Shadow of the Colossus - I'm looking at you!). These will both be made this year but ideally with my next video I'll come back to the present and review an indie game from 2017/2018! I have a list of about 30 ideas of games I'd like to talk about - but suggestions from you are always welcome! Thanks for watching! - Table 53

This game is something I've never experienced before.

Last time I played this, I used the white robe for the first time. In the second level I met another white robed figure and he/she stayed with me until the very end. It was wonderful.
